Last night, Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers Tour featuring Big Sean and Chevy Woods stopped at the Reliant Arena in Houston and played host to 7,000+ raving fans for a jam packed 4 hour show. The night started off with a short but very solid set from Taylor Gang’s own, Chevy Woods. I have never really listened to Chevy outside of the songs that he did on Cabin Fever but after seeing him perform last night I will definitely be picking up his Red Cup Music mixtape.

At around 8:15 Big Sean hit the stage for an energetic 45 minute long set that went through many of his old hits as well as the popular “Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay and DANCE” songs off of his Finally Famous album that was released last week. Many people know that Big Sean was the first ever artist that I covered a concert for, even before I was shooting for Frank151, it was only last September but I feel like my experience and overall quality of work has improved exponentially so I will always be a fan of Sean for that very reason. In my eyes, his album was awesome, yes I am a little biased but when it comes to albums I am usually a pretty tough critique because I don’t like paying for crappy music (yes, I do PAY for music, it’s only $10 you really don’t have an excuse to not support an artist you like) as I’m sure no one does. The only thing I would change is for Sean to revisit the flow that he had back on his UKNOWBIGSEAN mixtape from a few years back, his rendition of  ”My Mind is Playing Tricks On Me” is one of my favorite songs ever and is noticeably different than alot of his ad lib driven flow that he has today which is equally great, just in a different respect.

Sidenote: Check the pyramid pinky ring.

At about 9:10 Wiz Khalifa came out to “When I’m Gone” and then went straight into his ever growing catalog of hits he has built up over his career including his collaboration with Trae, “Gettin Paid.” Unfortunately as with most larger venues, there was a 5 song limit for photos and video so I couldn’t capture his the best parts like his Black and Yellow finale where he literally made it snow with yellow confetti that flew all the way to the back of the arena or Amber Rose who joined him on stage at the end.
